Work Invitation for Foreign Citizens

A work invitation is required for foreign citizens who plan to be employed in Russia. It is issued by the employer after obtaining a work permit.

Prerequisites: the employer must first obtain a work permit for the foreign worker from the migration authorities. This process takes 1–3 months.

After the work permit is issued, the employer applies for a work invitation through the MVD. Processing: 2–4 weeks.

The work invitation specifies: the employer's details, position, salary, contract duration, and the worker's personal information.

Required from the worker: passport copy, education documents (apostilled), medical certificates, criminal record check, and employment contract.

The work visa is issued for the duration of the work permit (typically 1 year) and can be renewed without leaving Russia.
