Student Visa to Russia — How to Obtain and What to Know

A student visa is required for foreign citizens planning to study at Russian educational institutions. It covers the entire duration of the educational program.

Types: single-entry (for initial arrival) and multiple-entry (for the study period, renewed annually). The visa is extended based on confirmation from the institution.

Requirements: invitation from the educational institution (processed through MVD, takes 30–45 days), valid passport, application form, photo, medical certificate, HIV test.

Student visa holders can work part-time (up to 20 hours/week during term, full-time during holidays) without a separate work permit.
