Russian Visa Requirements by Country — Overview
Visa requirements for Russia vary significantly depending on the applicant's nationality. Some countries have visa-free agreements, while others face stricter requirements.
Visa-free countries: citizens of certain CIS countries (Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, etc.), and countries with bilateral agreements can enter Russia without a visa for limited periods.
E-Visa eligible countries: citizens of 50+ countries can apply for a free electronic visa for stays up to 16 days. Check the Russian MFA website for the current list.
Standard visa countries: most nationalities need a traditional visa with an invitation. Consular fees range from $50 to $160 depending on bilateral agreements.
Special cases: US citizens pay $160 for all visa types (reciprocal fee). UK citizens pay £50 for standard processing. EU citizens benefit from simplified visa agreements.
Regardless of nationality, all visa applicants need: a valid passport, visa invitation, completed application form, photo, and travel insurance.
